Evelyn didn’t think she would be signing up for a fun run. Especially being a full-time Optometrist with a busy family life and volunteering as a Glaucoma NZ Support Group Facilitator on weekends.
Spurred on by friends, she has decided to take on a new challenge. That’s running Round The Bays 2026 for the first time and fundraising for Glaucoma NZ.
Evelyn sees glaucoma and glaucoma suspects at work on a daily basis. In addition, her dad was diagnosed with glaucoma in his early 60s.
Evelyn is well aware of the anxiety and uncertainty the diagnosis can bring as she attends glaucoma appointments with her dad.
Therefore, contributing towards Glaucoma NZ and their work in the community is especially meaningful for Evelyn.
