A fundraising programme ready for growth
We recently farewelled our Oamaru-based Fundraising Manager, Sandy McGregor.
Over her 20 months at Glaucoma NZ, Sandy helped build a fundraising programme defined by warmth, structure, and genuine care. Her thoughtfulness and belief in our mission strengthened a culture of community – one that has you at its heart.

Her work has laid a strong foundation that continues to grow through a passionate Glaucoma NZ team, and through you. In Sandy’s words:
“It’s been a privilege to help establish a strong and heartfelt fundraising programme for Glaucoma NZ. It’s in an exciting position to really flourish.
I feel encouraged knowing I’m leaving the programme in great hands. You have a team that truly cares, and a community of donors committed to supporting New Zealanders living with glaucoma.

Passing on the fundraising baton
As Sandy passes the baton, we’re thrilled to have someone who shares her spirit of care and connection. Our Supporter Care Administrator, Debbie van der Heijden joined us in May.
If you’ve called the Glaucoma NZ 0800 number, emailed us for support, or requested a donation receipt, chances are you’ve already spoken with Debbie. She’s often the first point of contact for supporters like you. She brings calm, clarity, and genuine care to every interaction.
Organised, straightforward, and deeply people-focused, Debbie is pivotal in stewarding donors and supporters. She works alongside our General Manager, Pippa Martin, who oversees the programme as part of our wider strategy.
